Bayside Completes Design for Route 97 in Groveland

1.35 miles of Rt. 97, Groveland

Bayside has completed the design and bid documents for the Reconstruction of Route 97 in Groveland, Massachusetts.

The design improvements include roadway reconstruction, sidewalk reconstruction, ADA compliant wheelchair ramps, on-roadway drainage improvements, new signage, and pavement markings.

A major component of the job involved Project Manager, Michael Rizzo, of Bayside providing assistance to the Town of Groveland by ushering them through the arduous and ever evolving Right of Way Process.

“This project is one of the first to implement the new guidelines of the MassDOT Right of Way process,” explains Mike Rizzo, Bayside’s Project Manager. “If a property is affected by roadway construction, citizens are now required to receive the Federal Aid Acquisition Guide for Property Owners summarizing the land acquisition process. Property owner contact diaries must also be prepared and submitted as part of the approval process.”

The $6 million project had a design completion deadline of September 2015 to take advantage of state funding.

“Mike’s knowledge and assistance with the Right of Way process was invaluable, says Robert P. Arakelian, Groveland’s Road Commissioner. “He performed the investigations and title studies for all 60 properties involved and attended numerous public meetings.  He also met with the affected property owners to secure all the necessary Rights of Way in order for MassDOT to issue a Right of Way Certificate, clearing the project for advertising.”

Construction will begin this fall.
