Highway Rest Areas and Information Center Buildings
I-495 Northbound and Southbound, Chelmsford, MA

Bayside Engineering, Inc. has recently completed the design and environmental permitting and is currently working with the Massachusetts Highway Department on the construction of a complete rest area facility located on I-495 Southbound in Chelmsford, MA. 

Construction administration services include pre-construction overview, construction inspection and review, contractor invoice review, and shop drawing review.

This multi-million dollar rest area reconstruction and upgrades project included the following design elements:

    • Site Development and Alternatives Analysis
    • Geotechnical Studies and Groundwater Modeling
    • Wetland Mitigation, Replication and Permitting
    • Welcome Center Building including HVAC, Electrical and Mechanical
    • Rest Rooms, Plumbing, Leaching Field Soils Analysis, Design and Title V Permitting
    • Emergency Electrical Generator
    • Acceleration/Deceleration Ramps
    • Site Landscaping and Public Uses (i.e. picnic tables, etc.)
    • Parking Areas and Handicap Accessibility
    • Sound Barriers and Noise Mitigation
    • Stormwater Management and Treatment
    • Traffic Management during Construction
    • Site Signage and Advanced Highway Signage
