Construction nearly complete for the repair of the Mount Washington Street Wall in Everett

Bayside Engineering was hired by the City of Everett to investigate the conditions of the retaining wall on Mount Washington Street and to make recommendations on how to proceed with the correction of the identified deficiencies.

The distressed retaining wall is located along the entire eastern side of Mount Washington Street beginning just south of Alpine Avenue and ending just to the north of Parkview Road.

After performing site investigations of the existing structure, it was determined immediate repairs were required to slow the deterioration at the top of the wall which had become critical and was accelerating.   The immediate repairs would restore the structural integrity at the top of the wall and also provide time for the City to secure a design and funding for the complete replacement of the wall which will be substantial in scope and cost.  Bayside’s design for the immediate repairs included the following:

  • Replacement of the top several feet of the retaining wall for the three major sections of the wall from south of Alpine Avenue to Maplewood Avenue.
  • Replacement of fencing along the top of the wall.
  • New sidewalks and ADA ramps at areas of wall repairs requiring sidewalk removal.

Construction began last year and is nearly complete.
