Designs Completed for Elm Street Project

Bayside Engineering recently completed the design and bid documents for the rehabilitation of Elm Street in Georgetown, Massachusetts.

The project involved .8 miles of Elm Street from its intersection with East Main Street and extending to its intersection with Central Street.

In a recent Georgetown Record article, Selectman Chair Trapani explained the Elm Street Project is a safety issue. All along Elm Street – where children walk to and from the Penn Brook School – there are missing curbs and sidewalks. It was determined to be one of the most unsafe streets in Georgetown.

Bayside’s design improvements include roadway reconstruction, new side walk and granite cubing on the westerly side of Elm Street, ADA compliant wheelchair ramps, cross walks, roadway drainage improvements, school zone flashing warning signs, signs and pavement markings, including environmental permitting.

The Town of Georgetown and Bayside Engineering have partnered on a number of civil engineering projects over the last 6 years such as the Library Square Reconstruction and the Pentucket Pond Outlet Dam Inspection.

The Elm Street project will be advertised for bidding this fall. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2017.
