services, we have designed numerous elevator installations and renovations
with ADA compliance throughout the Commonwealth and New England. Follow
is a partial list of recent elevator project completed by Bayside Engineering,
Inc.

New Elevator Shaft and Machine Room Addition
McKinley Vocation High School, Brighton
|
McKinley Vocational High School, Brighton, MA
Addition of a new 3 stop elevator and machine room as part of a major school
renovation and ADA upgrade design completed by Bayside Engineer, Inc.
Construction Completed in 2000 (see photo to the right).
Boston Transportation Building at Southampton
Street, Boston MA Complete overhaul of two-stop hoisted elevator
with new controller, hoisting machine, new doors and frames, ADA features
and safety features. This project also included renovating elevator pit
and machine room to meet current elevator codes. Construction completed
in 1999.
Fitchburg Housing Authority
Evaluation and renovations of 4 elevators at two Fitchburg Housing Authority
sites. Overhaul of all four elevator systems with new controllers,
hoisting machines, doors and frames, ADA features and safety features.
Design completed in 2000.
MWRA Freight Elevators, Boston MA Remove
and replace on freight elevator at each of the three (3) MWRA Remote Headworks
(sewer pump stations). All replacement parts were all galvanized to
cope with the extreme corrosive environment. Also all electrical parts are
explosion proof to avoid electrical sparks igniting the methane gas, which
is the by-product of the sewage. Bayside al performed a Ayer life
cycle cost analysis with major replacement cost and maintenance costs.
Construction completed in 2000.
USPS Northwest Boston P&DC Waltham, MA
Waterproof six (6) elevator pits, replace vertical rails, replace hydraulic
piston frame, install new foundation drainage system for building and
elevator sumps. The new materials were galvanized. Construction
completed in 1999.
Boston Municipal Buildings, Boston MA
Renovation of two historic buildings located at North Street and Church
Street. North Street renovations included new elevator and
lobbies at each floor and one at street level to meet ADA requirements.
Also installed was a brand new hydraulic rope ADA elevator with 5 stops.
Church Street renovation included removal and replacement of a 4-stop
elevator with a state of the art control system, new hoisting machine
and accessories; apply variance for full ADA compliance due to the size
of the existing elevator shaft. Bayside upgraded the elevator to
meet the requirement of the fire call back function, Fireman and EMT key
functions, and 2 way emergency communication function. Completed
in 1998.
Somerville Branch Post Office Freight Elevator
Upgrade
This hoisted elevator was completely overhauled with new parts designed
to improve the reliability of the performance to the elevator including
controller, limit switches, door motors and control, and sensors.
Life safety and emergency remote call controls upgrades were also included.
Completed in 1998.

Worcester Housing Authority – 12-5 Pleasant
Towers and 12-15 Webster Square Tower
Two elevators at each location were in need of upgrades with a fixed budget
of $350,000. Our staff surveyed the four elevators and pin pointed
all the deficiencies of the systems. Decisions were made to renovate
the most needed and most cost effective for the given budget. The renovation
was completed within budget and on time (1997).
Fitchburg Housing Authority – Groop/Townview
Towers
Complete renovation of two of the elevators with all the ADA features,
state of the art electronic controllers, new hoisting equipment and accessories.
New access door to the machine room was added to ease the future maintenance.
Completed in 1997.
Callahan & Sumner Tunnels, Boston and East
Boston, MA
For this project involving the ventilation buildings and elevators, Bayside
designed renovations and replacements for five elevators located within
the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority's ventilation buildings for the Callahan
& Sumner Tunnels. Two of these elevators served four-story buildings,
another two served seven-story buildings and one was a sidewalk elevator.
Open-end Inspection Contract, Commonwealth of
Massachusetts
Bayside has been selected by the Massachusetts DCPO as vertical transportation
experts for the inspection and renovations design for all elevators in
DCPO facilities throughout the Commonwealth.
