MassDOT Bridge Contract Assignment

Bayside Engineering was recently given the green light to begin inspecting bridges under a contract originally awarded in 2014. The open-ended contract is to perform inspections throughout the state on non-NBIS bridges. By definition, these bridges are less than 20 feet long and are not required by the federal government to be inspected and therefore are not federally funded. The purpose of this statewide effort by the MassDOT is to bring the more than 6,500 bridges back into the fold.

Bridge InspectionWe are excited to announce our first assignment involving 22 bridges in Walpole & North Attleboro. This involves ensuring the safety of travel on the bridges and identifying deficiencies to incorporate into the Asset Management Program that would initiate maintenance activities on and/or rehabilitation of structures.

A Bayside team conducted a field inspection of the bridges last week to verify the conditions of the structures to update the inventory and rating.

Bayside Engineering has been providing bridge inspection and rating services to Massachusetts municipalities, MassDOT, MBTA, Railroad Authorities and other Federal and State agencies responsible for bridge maintenance for over thirty (30) years.
